What is a Registrar?
A GP Registrar is a fully qualified medical doctor undertaking advanced training to become a specialist in General Practice. As part of the RACGP’s requirements, Registrars must complete an accredited GP training program. Over a period of at least two years, they complete placements at up to four different medical practices.
At UMC, Registrars gain valuable experience in a supportive, team-based environment focused on family medicine and community care. While they are already skilled and knowledgeable, you may occasionally see them working alongside one of our Accredited Supervisors or Senior GPs to seek additional input and ensure the highest quality care.
Where is my Registrar?
Registrars typically rotate to a new placement after 12 months as part of their training journey. Once they complete their final exams, some choose to return and continue working with us here at UMC. Over the years, we’ve had the privilege of welcoming—and farewelling—many exceptional and compassionate doctors.
